The 13th National Boscoree, a quadrennial gathering of Scouts and Guides from Don Bosco institutions across the Indian sub-continent, took place at Nashik from 30th December, 2018 to 3rd January, 2019. The hosts for this Boscoree were the Salesian and FMA provinces of Mumbai. Over 4500 young boys and girls accompanied by their teachers and Salesian fathers, brothers and sisters from across India as far as Nepal in the north and Andaman and Nicobar in the south, arrived at Nashik bubbling with excitement and full of expectations for an experience of a lifetime.

The theme of the Boscoree: HEALTH – HARMONY – HOLINESS focused on the impact that the scouts and guides could leave on society and the environment around them if they truly apply themselves. The event was inaugurated with great pomp and fanfare on the Fr Sean McFerran parade ground, Divyadaan on 30th December. Beautiful displays of cultural dance, song and music from the diverse regions of the province allowed the gathering to have a glimpse of the colour and cultures that comprise the Mumbai province.

The 13th National Boscoree was brought to an illustrious close with the valedictory ceremony on the Fr Sean McFerran Ground on the morning of January 3. As the flags were lowered and the Boscoree anthem rang out in one final triumphant sound, the Boscoree flag was handed over to Fr Januarius Sangma, the Provincial of the Guwahati province, who will play host at the 14th National Boscoree to be held in the year 2022. With words of gratitude that came from the heart, Fr Ian Doulton brought the mega-scouting extravaganza to a thumping finish. The scouts and guides bid farewell to Nashik as they made their way back home filled with zeal to live healthy, harmonious and holy lives in the spirit of Don Bosco.
